The Hardy Center

The Hardy Center is a nonprofit organization based in the Linden area that has been serving the community for 18 years. Dedicated to supporting children's academic and personal development, the center offers an after-school program that serves students during the school year, providing tutoring, homework assistance, meals, and access to digital learning resources. The center focuses on bridging learning gaps, particularly those caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with 90% of students achieving or exceeding grade-level proficiency. During the summer, the Hardy Center runs a ten-week camp for children aged 5 to 12, with around 120 students participating. Led by university education students and community volunteers, the camp combines academic skill-building with activities like debate, speech, unicycling, gardening, and art, fostering a love for learning in a fun and engaging environment. Through its holistic approach—combining academic support, enrichment activities, meals, and community engagement—the Hardy Center actively works to bridge learning gaps and create an environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
